6th Aboriginal Math Symposium

This year’s Aboriginal Math Symposium was a great success with well over 170 people attending. The Symposium featured speakers from local school districts at the elementary and secondary levels and highlighted efforts of teachers, Aboriginal resource teachers, administrators and community members working together to teach mathematics through Aboriginal education.
Speakers included Carolyn Roberts of Langley School District; Karla Gamble, Daryl Goeson and Maria Nicolidakis of Burnaby School District; Lori Bernard of Burnaby School District, and Don Bowser, Katrina Melan, Rob Wielgoz, and Paul Hembling of Kamloops School Disrtrict.
Participants travelled from all lower mainland school districts as well as Lillooet, Squamish and Pemberton, Prince George, Vanderhoof, Duncan, Campbell River, Salmon Arm, Victoria, Gibsons, Burns Lake, Sooke, Kamloops, Fraser Lake, and Auckland New Zealand to attend.
