Sea Otters

Did you know that sea otters are incredibly important for their ecosystem? This is because when otters prey on urchins, kelp forests flourish. Check out the video below to learn more!

As shown in the video above, sea otters are extremely important for maintaining a healthy ecosystem. However, the 1800’s fur trade  decimated sea otter populations along the west coast of North America. This led to the 1969 sea otter reintroduction that re-establishd the sea otter along the west coast of British Columbia.
