  • Intro to CMS – WordPress.com

Here are some notes from the meeting on Oct 9, 2007:

    • Open source CMS for you to play with on your own: Joomla, TextPattern, Bricolage, Drupal, Plone, WordPress.
    • Look for more here: OpenSourceCMS – you can even try out some of the best ones there.
    • Want a quick, introductory, hands-on experience? Create a free account at WordPress.com and make yourself the administrator of a site – and don’t forget to blog, too.

  • Evergreen in BC

The Public Library Service Branch Strategic Plan is being carried forward by the Association of BC Public Library Directors (ABCPLD) in a way that is exciting to those of us fascinated by the Open Source ILS movement.

In the spirit of “libraries without walls” – a seamless library system for all of BC – the ABCPLD has formed an open source ILS committee, which quickly established Evergreen as the OSILS of choice for the Province.

Status of the project as of July shows that Prince Rupert, Powell River, Fort Nelson and Thompson-Nicola Regional District are all on board for the initial install, and thirty more libraries in BC are in line to be next.

More news on the project can be found here.
