When you’re not attending sessions, you may want to get off campus and enjoy what the city has to offer in terms of dining and other distractions. We’ve crowd-sourced a Google map (below) featuring some favourite places our graduate students, staff, and faculty like. You might also wish to check out the Georgia Straight‘s most recent “Golden Plate” Awards for other suggestions.

Getting on and off campus via public transit is easy. Google Maps is the best way to figure out how to get where you want, when you want, using the bus. For more information, you can check the Translink website. There are also a number of car-sharing services you might wish to use from campus. Cycling to and from campus is an option, but the city’s Mobi bike share doesn’t have stations at UBC. That means that if you want to cycle (and don’t have your own bike), it might be cheaper to look into renting one.
