- When you want to participate in a meeting, and your schedule allows you to do so online
- Increasingly, virtual attendance is almost the same as the face-to-face (F2F) e.g., when NOT attend as required
- When you want to see supporting media for presentations, including video clips and powerpoints
- When you want to interact with your colleagues prior to, during or after event e.g., Twitter backchannel
- When you want to participate in all conference sessions BUT cannot be there in person
- Virtual presentations are very green and help to reduce carbon footprints
- Traveling is getting more and more complex e.g., full-body scanners
