He completed his post secondary education at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and is a graduate of the Dental Hygiene Degree Program, a Bachelor in Dental Sciences. As the Sponsorship Representative of UBC’s Faculty of Dentistry Undergraduate Student Council, he has built partnerships with renowned dental companies including Oral B and Sunstar to educate dental hygiene students on the latest products available.

Through numerous clinical experiences and community initiatives in the last three years, Delwyn developed a heart for the new immigrant and low socioeconomic populations. Although he is a second generation immigrant and grew up in a middle class family, his experiences enlightened him of the barriers this population faces in relation to limited access to dental care.

With a passion to help individuals build confidence and self-esteem, Delwyn’s philosophy of care puts the client’s wellbeing first through gaining a genuine understanding of the client’s perception and beliefs of oral health. With work characterized as efficient and meticulous, he ensures at the end of each interaction to develop an individualized care plan that allows the client to take responsibility of their oral health. His goal after graduation is to work full time in a hospital setting, marry his girlfriend of three and a half years, and pursue higher education in the dental field. When he is not in clinic or spending time with his dear girlfriend, he is mentoring youth from his local community, playing musical instruments, is in the garage working on his car, or enjoying outdoor activities.

Delwyn was also chosen by the Faculty of Dentistry at UBC to pioneer an outstanding project in Vietnam on December 2015 in representation of the Dental Hygiene Degree Program. More information can be found here.
