Memo: Formal Report Progress

Memorandum

To: Dr. Erika Paterson

From: Adrienne Yap

Date: Nov, 15, 2019

Subject: Formal report progress memorandum

Audience

This report will be addressed to Ian Stone, the Student Services Manager who oversees all seven AMS services.

Update

In the last few weeks, Vice has actually created an Instagram account, which is tremendous. However, there is still a gap in its marketing and outreach platform. The service essentially has no control over its own Facebook or blog channel. My updated proposal is that Vice command all of its own social media, including the creation of a blog.

Purpose

This report’s purpose is to persuade the Student Services Manager to grant Vice total social media freedom in the form of a corresponding Facebook page and a blog.

Significance

We live in a digital age. To have a social media presence is to exist as a relevant service. An Instagram account on its own is wonderful, but combined with different social media channels would make it powerful. Facebook, Instagram, and digital blogs can work as a system by driving traffic towards the other. Having all three would increase Vice’s reach, enabling the services to be broadcast to a wider audience.

Research Plan

  • Research other services, clubs, campus initiatives
  • Analyze what forms of media are being used by other services
  • Research Vice’s current forms of media
  • Survey coordinators to determine why social media isn’t being leveraged
  • Survey volunteers to determine if the demand is there
  • Analyze and present solutions to any problems brought up
  • Determine the potential value of adding to Vice’s Instagram
  • Research the resources necessary for the recommendation
