Looking to shake up your fitness routine during the dark winter months? The Walkabout program is a great way to connect with colleagues, get to know the UBC campuses, and stay active during the winter months. Now in its 14th year, Walkabout was created as a health and wellbeing challenge, promoting physical activity in the UBC community. Registration is $10 and participants can register as an individual or in teams of five. Walkabout teams monitor their daily steps and overall physical activities over a 9-week period from January 22 to March 25. Teams with the most steps are awarded prizes at a ceremony in April.

Moved by the devastating affects of the BC wildfires in 2017, this year Walkabout is partnering with UBC Recreation and UBC Human Resources, creating a virtual route to affected communities throughout the province. Walkabout participants are invited to walk the distance of the virtual route. Participants are also encouraged to support the BC Fires Appeal.

Sign-up with your team before January 29, and get moving! For more information on Walkabout and to register, visit walkabout.educ.ubc.ca.
