In this unit we have tried to give you an overview of the key factors that determine how ready an organization is for e-learning. By analyzing these factors, you can determine what needs to be addressed in an organization to make it “e-learning ready”. Some of these factors will be discussed in more depth in later units.
As we mentioned at the outset, e-learning readiness is much more than just a technical issue, although technical readiness is a key component. E-learning readiness is a complex issue that includes a wide range of organizational, pedagogical and administrative factors as well as the technical issues. The key readiness issues are:
- Costs and funding
- IT infrastructure
- Organizational culture
- Planning
- Faculty and learner readiness
- Organizational structure
