Contextual Learning Technologies
Hi everyone:
I created my executive summary in Publisher and saved it as a pdf so hopefully it’s viewable by everyone. The links to my pitch videos (I had to split it into two since Youtube’s limit is 10 minutes) are embedded in the pdf.
Contextual Learning Technologies is a mock venture that looks to take advantage of the growing mobile technology marketplace by providing language learners with authentic mobile video content.

Mike Awmack’s Introduction
Hi Everyone!
My name’s Mike Awmack. I live in Vancouver with my wife of two years, and I’ve actually been working at UBC for the past year while I’ve been doing this program. I work in communications for Alumni Affairs, so that basically means a lot of writing, editing, website work, and project management. Nothing directly related to the MET program, but in the past I’ve done educational research and project management for Commonwealth of Learning (living in KL, Malaysia) and have done a project management contract for the Canadian Olympic Committee in Toronto.
My real background is in international development, with a focus on international education projects. I have a degree in International Relations, and a postgraduate certificate in International Project Management from Humber (in Toronto).
This course is actually one of the ones that attracted me to the MET program. My interest is primarily to learn how to set up ventures that could be viable in developing countries, possibly using a social business model.
This is my 6th course in the program (I’m also taking 521 this term, which will be my 7th). So far all of the courses have used Vista, so it should be interesting to try out this new way of interacting with a course.
I look forward to working through this course with all of you.
I can be reached at mike.awmack (at) gmail dot com.
