Adelle Saves The Day! Children’s Books Will Never Die.

Text technologies really got us thinking with this assignment. How could we address the changing world of writing with staying true to our roots and beliefs that children’s books are so important in the development of young children (both as a pedagogy and as an experience). This course has challenged us to expand beyond our childhood experience to understanding the changes occurring around us in the world of literacy. For this assignment, we decided to make an online children’s book showing the reaction to losing books from the perspective of a child. To address the knowledge we have acquired throughout this course, we added important passages from readings we’ve done throughout this course along with supplemental reading that illustrate some of the advantages and some of the downfalls of these platforms. We are both firm believers in the use of ICT to help support and further student learning, however we also believe that children’s books will never die… Let us know what you think!

  1. Laura and Sarah,

I think this is a really great and creative project! You’ve done a great job pointing to some of the real difficulties with ebooks, as well as some of the benefits. It’s certainly not a cut and dried, easy issue. Thanks for your work on this.
