Oct 13th from 5:30pm-7:00pm

Location: Global Lounge Media Room

In this workshop, Kenyan woman and UBC student Saida Rashid challenges the narrowness of “cultural competence”, arguing that her identity and culture cannot be “put in a box” nor mastered as a skill.  Through facilitated discussion, participants will deconstruct the notion of cultural competence and in its place reconstruct the possibility of developing cross-cultural understanding through open-mindedness and personalized relationships.
