I’m a freshman applicant to the UBC and I’m trying to figure out which residence halls would be best. Here are my main questions/concerns:

I have friends who say the freshman dorms are annoying because freshman are immature and that it’s better to be around upperclassmen and sophomores who know the ins and outs of college life. Has anyone found this to be true at UBC?

I know proximity to campus/events is important and sometimes it’s hard to tell how close things are just by looking at a map. Are any dorms particularly far away from anything to make it a hindrance or annoyance?

What are the main up- and downsides to these residences, and what is the general vibe/atmosphere:
- Totem Park
- Place Vanier
- Marine Park (winter residence)
- Walter Gage

Thank you so much!
