Reflections of an e-portfolio novice

Here I will begin and continue to capture my thoughts as I reflect and create my e-portfolio. This may help me shape the renovations of my learning as this project unfolds.

As I posted in Vista, I am facing a challenge in matching course requirements, my own comfort level with technology and the options for e-portfolio creation. I began the portfolio in Wix (see earlier comment) and am impressed with its interactivity, operability and ease of use. So far, there have been no issues with saving or creating my website, uploading images or pfds, moving or changing elements or changing within the pages. Today, I published the site, even though it is far from being complete. I needed to test the option of making a backup of the files which can be uploaded into the Vista platform, as required by the course assignment.

The suggested option of using Site Sucker for Macs was tested with one of my WordPress blogs. There was no problem getting a backup file of the site onto my harddrive using this handy tool. (Site Sucker is going to become one of my go-to tools in the future!) Testing Wix created an error message so I am trying other options to make sure I can do this task without losing or endangering all my efforts. As F. Feng cautioned … Test, Test and Test again. Backups are an essential part of any web creation that is of significant importance. The e-portfolio is of critical importance to my personal and professional learning and having a backup file will help my sense of security for this valuable artifact of learning.
