Fun Reading Break Activities

Posted by: | February 16, 2012

With Reading break just days away, it is a great time to start brainstorming some fun ways to spend your well-deserved days of freedom! At least for me, reading break is a great opportunity to take a step back from the chaos and stress of midterms and papers to take some time to do something fun and out of the ordinary. In my own experience, I am usually so bogged down with other commitments during the semester, that I rarely take the time to explore the UBC campus, let alone all the amazing things that Vancouver has to offer.

You know that giant whale you walk by on your way to class, or that exhibit you keep hearing about? Reading week is the perfect time to take an hour or two to check out the Beatty Biodiversity Museum or the Museum of Anthropology, right here on our very own campus. Maybe you haven’t had the chance yet to do some of the Vancouver classics like shopping at Granville Market or tackling the Grouse Grind on snow shoes? If you are interested in finding other fun things to do in Vancouver, here are some helpful websites to check out:

Whether you are interested in trying an activity you have never done before or even just trying out a new restaurant, there are endless opportunities to make your reading break memorable. After all, even though it is called “Reading” Break, it is important to take some “play” time to ensure you come back well-rested and ready to finish off the year!

I went to Granville Island last weekend. It was so nice to chill out with a latte and look at performers. Super relaxing :)

After reading this post, I’m happy that I did spend the bulk of my time having fun and relaxing. It’s always important to have the break once in a while just to recharge!
