Getting Started With Your Blog

Step 1: Get your blog

• go to blogs.ubc.ca/wp-login.php
• sign up for your account
• select your template, set up your blog and all that stuff
• Note: When you go to login in to your blog a second time, you’ll be re-directed to the home page at blogs.ubc.ca. You’ll find your blog in one of two ways:
  - mouse over your name in the welcome to message on the top right of the page
  - choose your blog from the drop down menu on the task bar on the top left under “blogs”

Step 2: Download your Blogsquad badge

• go to the Blogsquad support blog: http://blogs.ubc.ca/helpermonkey/
• click on the Working WordPress tab at the top and download the badge that is right for you (1st year, 2nd year or contributor)

Step 3: Upload your badge to your blog

• Go to your blog’s dashboard
• Click on Blog Avatar (under Settings on the left menu)
• Follow the instructions to upload your Badge (avatar)
• Then go to Widgets (under Appearance on the left menu) and the widget for Blog info.

Step 4: Connect with others

• send us your blog url and feed (your feed should be something like http://blogs.ubc.ca/sam/feed) so that we can add you to the Blogsquad: http://blogs.ubc.ca/blogsquad/
