Just ID Networking Event Schedule.

Friday, May 13, 2011 in the Lillooet Room at the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre.

The goal of this half-day event is to bring together individuals who are working as instructional designers within a variety of fields/educational sector groups (e.g., K-12, public sector, private, post-secondary) for the purposes of:

  • sharing ideas/challenges/best practices in instructional design
  • networking purposes
  • accessing (or delivering) future professional development opportunities on instructional design

Dr. Tony Bates, a renowned expert in the field of educational technology and e-learning, will be part of this event and he will lead a wrap-summary discussion.

Themes

  • Emerging trends/changes in the field of Instructional Design
  • Impact of the recent changes/trends in Instructional Design (both in definition and in practice)

Five different topics will be covered in the round table discussions. The five topics are:

  1. Innovation/creativity and instructional design
  2. Social media, Web 2.0 and instructional design (this can include/cover designing for engagement)
  3. Mobile learning and instructional design
  4. Future of instructional design (this can include/cover instructional design for open learning and place-based learning and instructional design)
  5. Designing for learning environments that aren’t courses (communities of practice, personal learning environments)
