Purpose of the project:
The purpose of this project is to digitize the Canucks image archives. Dating back to 1970, the Canucks image archives contains over 100,000 physical images in slide, negative and print formats. The student will aid in the digitization, description and publication of these images to our digital assets management system.
Summary of activities required to carry out the project:
– The digitization of print, negative and slide images – The description of digtized images using Dublin Core metadata standard- The description of game-day images as they come in during the season- Uploading images to enterprise digital assets management system
Expectations of the end result of the project, for both host and student:
Through the project the student will gain an understanding of the requirements of a large corporate archives. The student will get hands on experience in digitization, description, preservation and lifecycle management of physical and digital images. The student will contribute to one the cultural legacy of one of Vancouver’s most iconic brands.
