Purpose of the project:
  Ujjal Dosanjh fonds.

This project’s goal is to arrange and describe the personal papers of Ujjal Dosanjh, create a RAD compliant finding aid, and work directly with Mr. Dosanjh to determine access restrictions.

Dosanjh served as 33rd Premier of British Columbia from 2000 to 2001 and as a Liberal Party of Canada Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2011 including a period as Minister of Health from 2004 until 2006. He also served as the Attorney General of British Columbia from August 1995 to February 2000, among other political positions.

Summary of activities required to carry out the project:
  TASKS:
– background research on Dosanjh
– training on AtoM, as required
– Appraisal
– Arrangement and Description
– Creation of RAD compliant finding aid in AtoM
– Physical processing
– Consultation and in-person meetings with the donor to determine access restrictions
Expectations of the end result of the project, for both host and student:
  The end result of this project will be a completed finding aid in our AtoM database, with all files processed and access restrictions implemented.
Time periods in which the project could be supervised (check all that apply):
 
  • Summer Session, Term 1 (May – June)
  • Summer Session, Term 2 (July – August)
Is there a deadline by which the project must be completed?
  September 1, 2017.
Considering the project requirements, please suggest suitable coursework as pre-requisite or co-requisite: (e.g. LIBR 580 Collection Management, ARST 515 Arrangement & Description of Archival Materials.)
  MAS Core classes required, especially ARST 515 Arrangement and Description.
