The Department of Library & Information Technology (LibIT) invites applications for a one-year Limited Term Appointment in the Library & Information Technology Diploma program. The date of appointment is August 1, 2017. Located within the Faculty of Professional Studies, LibIT offers the program online and on campus with concentrations in Systems Technology, Records Management, and Youth Services.

The instructor will teach a range of subjects across the program, including foundational and elective courses in both technical and public services. The candidate will be required to teach face-to-face on the Abbotsford campus and online. The candidate will also participate actively in department-level service activities. Duties of Limited Term faculty fall within Article 18.2 (Teaching Faculty Duties) of the Collective Agreement, specifically the Teaching and Service components.

We seek collegial applicants who demonstrate our shared passion for, and commitment to, excellence in undergraduate teaching in a student-centred environment and who are experienced in the delivery of high-quality service in communities of practice, particularly libraries and related information centres.

The minimum educational requirements are a Master of Library & Information Studies (MLIS) from an American Library Association-accredited program and five years of full-time, professional experience. Applicants without the minimum qualifications will not be considered. A second master’s degree in a relevant subject area and/or an earned PhD in LIS or a related field is an asset. Doctoral candidates will also be considered.

Applicants must have relevant, demonstrable expertise in one or more areas of LibIT curricula. Previous instructional experience in a postsecondary setting, either in-person or online, is a definite asset. Experience with the Blackboard course management system is a definite asset.
