Documents Restoration Technician


The Document Lab Technician is responsible for dealing with documents, books and artwork that have been damaged by fire, water, mould and other contaminants. Their main duties are to ensure the continuity and efficiency of each project from start to finish through clear communication to all parties involved. The Document Lab Technician handles multiple projects within a fast paced environment and is open to constant changes and challenges. The ideal candidate will have to be a highly organized individual who can manage multiple projects at once in the absence of day-to-day guidance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate with Project Managers, insureds and insurance adjusters;
  • Address questions/concerns throughout the project;
  • Review project information and compile schedules in a timely manner;
  • Prepare and assemble materials for restoration
  • Loading and unloading freeze dryer
  • File all project documents appropriately (hard and soft copies);
  • Organize, compile and submit support documentation on completion of project;
  • Submit any required information to the client as directed by the Project Manager/Adjuster;
  • Attend BELFOR sponsored operations and safety training courses as required
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Eligible to operate a motor vehicle per BELFOR’s vehicle policy

Qualifications and Required Skills

  • Minimum High School Diploma, Post-Secondary Preferred;
  • Detail oriented;
  • Some artistic ability an asset;
  • Restoring of artwork; cutting mats, replacing frames;
  • Prior restoration experience an asset;
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g. Excel, Word, and Outlook);
  • Experience using office equipment (telephone, copiers, scanners, fax, printers, etc.);
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal);
  • Strong aptitude to work within deadlines (both independently and as part of a team);
  • Integrity, honesty and responsibility with a desire to contribute to a team;
  • Highly organized with attention to details;
  • Physically fit-must be able to lift 35-50 lbs;
  • Some mechanical ability;
  • Ability to drive a fork lift an asset, but will train if necessary
