The Archivist role is to work as a member of the Communications Department in preserving past and documenting current organizational activities and materials, responding to internal and external archival requests, accession materials, and creating strategic communications for NWS’s online news feed.
Collect, document and store all significant organizational materials, both print and digital, in a timely, efficient fashion using NWS’s identified processes and selected archival systems
Manipulate and manage new and old digital files for inclusion and easy access within NWS’s Digital Asset Management system using best practices, including adjusting file names and creating systematic metatags
Respond to internal and external requests for archival materials in a timely fashion
Manage accession materials acquired by gift or bequest
Create guidelines and procedures for records identification and archival processing, including identification and collection of digital files from key internal staff and departments
Generate guide documenting archival guidelines and processes, including current procedures for acquiring materials, steps taken to archive various materials, and itemized descriptions and locations of current archives
In consultation with the Director of Publications and Communications and NWS’s content calendar, coordinate and create timely, original content for the NWS newsfeed
Regularly provide information about new trends and/or opportunities that could further NWS’s strategic initiatives

Previous experience in archival best practices, EAD and handling various material types
Ability to interact effectively and respectfully as a team player with a variety of people
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Highly organized with attention to detail and quality
Ability to manage numerous simultaneous projects, in a demanding, multi-activity work environment

Additional Salary Information: Hourly salary commensurate with experience; maximum allowance of 20 hours per week. Part-time positions are not eligible for benefits.
