The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (G+PS) is responsible for the recruitment, admission, support and graduation of approx. 10,000 graduate students who attend UBC annually. Within G+PS there are a number of administrative units and programs.

The CASI team is responsible for the Faculty’s communications, student recruitment, data analysis and strategic uses of technology. As a central support unit G+PS supports more than 70 departments in their recruitment efforts and helps establish, communicate and implement various recruitment tactics across the university. The unit delivers training and workshops to dozens of program administrators in these various units and maintains central databases on mobility trends and markets. It provides data and intelligence information to other units to support their recruitment initiatives. CASI will be hiring for 2 positions in Recruitment and Communications.

The Postdoctoral Fellows Office (PDFO) is UBCs central office for providing support, professional development opportunities and advocacy for all Postdoctoral Fellows (PDFs). The Office liaises closely with Faculty Relations, the VP Research Office and the UBC Postdoc Association as well as other relevant units across campus.  The HR & PDFO Assistant will provide support for various projects within the PDFO and HR team portfolio.  Duties include:


  • Assist in the implementation of a professional development program for UBC postdocs, currently in the early stages of development
  • Compile evaluation summaries following professional development workshops and events
  • PDF communications including event follow-up and biweekly welcome emails
  • Assist with event preparation, set up/take-down, execution and onsite registration
  • manage a master attendance spreadsheet, updated with attendance records following each PDFO event
  • assist with material prep prior to PDFO events including check-in and name tags
  • mining and compiling of a PDF alumni list
  • maintaining the PDFO budget spreadsheet for accumulated costs
  • Assist with PDF Profiling Project


  • Attendance management of monthly attendance spreadsheets and updating a master attendance statistics spreadsheet
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
