The West Vancouver Memorial Library is looking for a creative, enthusiastic and qualified individual to create a compelling audio history to be used in the Youth Department’s Research to Remember program. The Research to Remember program engages secondary school students with primary source documents on West Vancouver soldiers who died fighting in WWI and WWII. This position is for a minimum of 50 hours to a maximum of 75 hour contract.
All work will be under the supervision of The Head of Youth Services and will include:
- Formulating questions and conducting audio interviews with 3-6 West Vancouver war veterans
- Selecting suitable content from audio interviews to introduce the importance of community history and legacy to secondary school students participating in the Research to Remember program
- Editing the content into a streamlined, well-organized, engaging audio clip (or series of clips) for use in the Research to Remember program and activities related to the library’s observance of Remembrance Day
- Potentially selecting suitable visual content (photographs) to run in tandem with the audio clip
The successful candidate will possess: demonstrated experience with interviewing or oral history/storytelling projects; demonstrated experience with Audacity or other audio editing software; ability to create a project plan and work independently; careful attention to detail; excellent communication skills; passion for history and interest in working with seniors.
In addition, all or a portion of an MLIS, History or related degree or Library Technician diploma, or relevant combination of experience and education, would be an asset.

|Rate of Pay:||$31.01-$36.51 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits|
