Graduate Academic Assistant – Scholarly Communications
In conjunction with the Centre for Writing and Scholarly Communications (CWSC), UBC Library’s Scholarly Communications Office seeks an Academic Assistant to support the new and critical area of scholarly communications. Broadly defined, scholarly communication is “the system through which research and other scholarly writings are created, evaluated for quality, disseminated to the scholarly community, and preserved for future use.”
The position is ideally suited to students in the MLIS or MAS programs. Key duties include conducting research in scholarly communications service best practices; developing and delivering workshops, independently or co-taught; and writing and creating web pages, and video-based and online modules and guides (using LibGuides, WordPress, and other tools).
The incumbent will report to the Scholarly Communications and Copyright Office in Koerner Library, and interact with CWSC staff and subject specialists in Koerner and Woodward libraries, to ensure applicability across the humanities, social sciences and STEM fields.
