Purpose of the project:
The primary purpose of the project is to investigate the behaviours, attitudes, and expectations of UBC undergrad students and develop user personas to inform the digital communication strategies of UBC Student Communications Services.
Summary of activities required to carry out the project:
The graduate researcher will be responsible for:
– Processing, coordinating, and analyzing quantitative data from the interview and survey findings
– Triangulating quantitative data with qualitative findings from the persona research
– Using students.ubc.ca web analytics (Google Analytics) and social analytics to enhance our understanding of student behaviour on existing digital channels
– Leveraging existing PAIR data and findings from past student surveys (e.g. AMS, EUS) to inform our understanding of student demographics
– Exploring existing research on demographics and psychographics of target audience
– Evaluating the digital behaviour of UBC students
– Regularly collaborating with undergraduate student researchers in the development of user personas
– Presenting findings in a research report to the Student Communications Services team
Expectations of the end result of the project, for both host and student:
At the end of the project, we would like a demographic and psychographic profile of our audience and strategy and framework for reporting analytics.
Time periods in which the project could be supervised (check all that apply):
  • Winter Term 2 (January – April)
Is there a deadline by which the project must be completed?
We’d like the project to conclude by the end of April, with the potential of continuing the researcher role.
