Archival Project Assistant position

The Corporate Records & Archives Department of the Law Society of Ontario has an Archival Project Assistant position available for the summer.

Archival Project Assistant will be primarily responsible for a number of tasks associated with an on-going initiative to make public biographical information on past licensees held in the archival collection available directly to end-users through a searchable database on the Law Society website.  The position will also assist with a digitization project underway in the Archives.


  • The successful candidate will be enrolled in a graduate-level archives/information studies university degree, or been accepted into such a program.
  • Some previous experience working in an archives.
  • Familiarity with scanning equipment and software, and working with databases.
  • Experience using Adobe software, Minisis (a relational database) and SharePoint software is desirable but not required.
  • Excellent research, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.


  • Completion of assigned tasks associated with the biographical database project, including research, data verification and data entry.
  • Take responsibility for digitizing a set of subject files, including document selection, scanning, up-loading to a SharePoint library and adding metadata.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
