Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada Archives – Hamilton site
We are seeking a student or recent graduate with an interest in archives for a five-month position, beginning in May, 2018. The position involves assisting the Congregational Archivist with inventorying, deaccessioning, preserving, arranging and describing records. The ideal candidate should:
- Be currently enrolled in a master’s degree in archival studies or information sciences with a concentration in archival studies; or a recent graduate.
- Have a good understanding of basic preservation and handling of archival materials; and be competent in procedures and terminology related to archival arrangement and description.
- Have excellent analytic and problem-solving skills.
This is a full-time, temporary position at $25 per hour. The work is to be undertaken at the Hamilton site archives, in Dundas, Ontario, approximately 7 km from McMaster University in Hamilton. The applicant will need a vehicle as there is no public transportation.
