Course Description

The aim of this course is to introduce the beginner to the sounds and structure of the Swedish language with an emphasis on interactive language usage to function at a beginner’s level. Through different media (including film, music and text), students will also be introduced to Swedish culture.

Learning Objectives

– to acquire basic insights into Swedish language and culture
– to learn about pronunciation rules and elementary grammar
– to use greetings and small talk phrases in everyday basic situation
– to give information about oneself and ask and answer simple questions- to be able to read and write simple texts

There will be no final exam in this course

Material

We use the same material in all four levels of Swedish (SWED 100,110, 200 and 210) so you only need to buy one textbook and one workbook: Scherrer, Rivstart A1+A2: textbok and övningsbok.
