Moment of Significant Change

We decided to use a line graph for our Moment of Significant Change drawing. The x axis shows our timeline of events we have been through so far as well as a projection of future activities. The y axis shows the energy we put in as well as our satisfaction level.

We used different colors to represent each team member’s input and satisfaction level. After talking about how each and every one of us feels, we drew the black line which represents the average of our group and we compiled a list of notes for each point/event (on the sticky notes placed above the lines).

Timeline of Events:

Choosing Project: The main difference between us was our expectations for this class after taking LFS 250, some liked the style of LFS250 and some didn’t. We were able to come to a consensus quickly about which project we wanted to do, but unfortunately we weren’t able to get any of our top 5 choices. This led some of us to be skeptical about the project received.

Blog #1: Blog 1 gave us a chance to get to know each other better. During this week we also gained a clearer understanding of the scope of our project. We also laid out our values and goals.

Contacting Community Partner: We found it difficult to find community kitchens in Killarney and therefore we stumbled a bit.

Proposal: Our proposal allowed us to narrow down our focus on the project and provided us with a better understanding on what methods are a more suitable approach.

Contacting Community Partner: We sent out a few emails to the community. The response we received wasn’t able to help us find community kitchens rather it confirmed that there weren’t any at all in Killarney.

Blog #2: We received our final grade for blog #1 which encouraged us a bit after the failure of contacting our community partner.

Academic Review Outline: This week was a bit of a mix as some people found it challenging to find a suitable topic for the paper. The outline was also quite lengthy.

Contacting Community Partner: We tried calling a few numbers but there wasn’t positive response. As several other groups were facing the same problem we felt like there wasn’t much advice we could listen to.

Blog#3: As we plan to write blog 3, we are also looking forward in receiving a better grade for blog 2. We also have discussed about a different strategy in finding a community kitchen. We decided we will go into the Killarney community by next Monday and knock on doors.

As a group we feel that this activity brought us a lot of insight on what we have done so far. It gave us a chance to regroup and remind ourselves of our goals. Although this project wasn’t our first choice nor was it the second, from our chart we can see we still felt satisfied at certain points of the project. It has been difficult trying to find a community kitchen in Killarney to work with us, but as we complete each step of the process (blogs and papers), we feel more achieved.

Our group strategy for a graceful dismount is to finally find a community kitchens, and be able to survey these kitchens for our project. Otherwise we do not have the ability to complete our project. If this is the case, we will need to strategize with Sam and Will on what will become of our project. There is little we can do to successfully complete this project at this point if there are no community kitchens in the neighborhood. We will make the best of the project as we can, and try to end on a high note.
