There are two major options to identify yourself as a UBC user when off-campus.

1. VPN or proxy server. This is the recommended method to get full functionality of RefWorks.

2. The Group Code – This method is not recommended unless absolutely necessary as some functionality is lost. For instance, connecting via the group code will not allow you to link to full-text articles by clicking on the eLink button available for each RefWorks record.
However, if you’re working at a computer whose settings you can’t easily modify, the group code still allows off-campus users to access RefWorks and Write-N-Cite without authenticating through a VPN or proxy service. Access the UBC Library Group Code and enter your library barcode and pin.

The group code is changed at least once a year.
