Vancouver school district's continuing education program faces termination“The future is uncertain for the Vancouver school district’s continuing education program, which charges tuition for a range of special-interest courses for adults but has been losing money each year for the last five years.”

CAD_MoneyThis article in the Vancouver Sun reports that 142 jobs are being cut to make up for a $12.1-million projected operating deficit in School District 43′s 2013/2014 school year.  This represents a 6% staff cut amounting to: “cutting 81 teachers, 19 teacher assistants/special education assistants/youth workers along with 32 clerical/custodial/IT and facilities positions and 10 from administration.”

Other changes also being proposed are enlarging class sizes and cutting back on various class activities.
