September 18, 2014, 6:00 – 8:30 pm The program begins at 6:00 pm, with a Q&A and reception to follow (MBA House, 3385 Wesbrook Mall, UBC’s Vancouver campus, Vancouver, BC, V6T 1W5)

UBC’s new campus-wide Pay for Print service is rolling out at UBC Library branches, replacing existing Library pay-for-printing solutions.

Pay for Print is a service that allows students, faculty, staff and visitors at UBC to print, copy and scan documents efficiently. Pay for Print uses a unified system of payment via the UBCcard to allow anyone to use specially marked printers, which are located across campus. This service enables a uniform payment mechanism and accounting service to allow departments to offer students, faculty and staff access to printing services with their UBCcard.

Please be aware that Pay for Print account activation may not be immediate; please plan for extra time when you first use this system.

For in-person assistance at Library locations, please visit the Circulation, Reference or Information desk and a Library staff member will assist you.

We appreciate your patience as this new system is rolled out across campus.

A critical first step to activate student accounts for the Pay for Print system if they have never added money to their UBCcard is to change their CWL password. This can be done on the CWL My Account page. Once the password is changed, the final step for card activation is to login to the Pay for Print website, and add money to their card by clicking the ‘Add Money—UBC Card’ link. This must be done via credit or debit card on the Pay for Print website for the first time. Student cards cannot be activated with cash using a Pay for Print card vendor or at a Food Services Outlet.

Refunds for old copy cards include both the deposit ($1) and the balance amounts on the cards. Refunds are provided Monday – Friday in the following locations:

Locations Hours

9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Visitors to the campus are also able to use the Pay for Print service by purchasing a re-loadable guest card to pay for printing services on specially marked printers. These re-loadable cards are available from any Library Circulation Desk or Food Services Outlet at a cost of $5.00

For off-site wireless or connectivity issues (i.e. submitting a print job from your personal laptop off-campus), please contact UBC IT Service Centre Help Desk (604-822-2008).

Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.

A project undertaken by UBC Library’s Digitization Centre, the Greater Vancouver Regional District Planning Department Land Use Maps are available online.

This series of detailed maps were produced in 1965, 1971, 1980 and 1983 (1983 covers the City of Vancouver Only) by the Greater Vancouver Regional District (now Metro Vancouver) and are held in the UBC Library’s Map & Atlas Collection.

The maps, printed in black & white, use symbols to show lot-by-lot land use according to 64 categories, such as residential, industrial, commercial, etc. Digitization preserves the maps and makes them widely available to researchers in urban planning, geography, history, environmental remediation, etc. at UBC and beyond.

UBC Library secured permission from Metro Vancouver, the copyright holder, to digitize these maps.
