Reduce your UBC Library fines by donating non-perishable food items – $2 in fines paid for each food item donated (up to a maximum of $30). Donated cans are accepted at branch circulation desks from March 18 to April 1, 2019.

Our new “Spring!” Collection Spotlight is up. Picture books featured in this display include topics such as seasons, seasonal changes, life cycle and the water cycle. See our themed booklist for title suggestions. You can also find our “Curriculum Connections” handout (available below and on the display) showing the links between these books and the BC Curriculum.

Our new Picture Books display features resources supporting the Core Competencies in BC Education. Each picture book includes a bookmark highlighting which Core Competency it links to.  The display is located just outside the Young Learners Library, Main Level, UBC Education Library and will be up until the end of March 2019.

A selection of makerspace kits are available to be booked in advance so that students may plan to use them during their practicum visits. Students may reserve Ozobots and Microbits by following the instructions below. Note that there are 2 identical microbit kits for loan. Reservations are available between January and the end of June 2019.

As we continue our year of assessment at the Education Library and, after six months of tracking patron use patterns, we have been able to expand the library’s opening hours on weekends. In response to user needs for space and borrowing services, we are now open until 6:00pm, Friday through Sunday.
