Due to some server moves, several Library websites and services will be disrupted starting at 10 p.m.  Tuesday, January 14; services are expected to resume by 1 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15.

These may include:

  • Indexes and databases portal

This just in…

UBC IT will be doing maintenance on the wireless network. This will result in a short outage across all wireless networks of approximately 5 minutes duration between 4:00 – 4:30PM. This is to address issues connecting to UBC secure. Please see UBC IT bulletins for the more recent updates.

Hello, this Saturday UBC IT will be working on the wireless networks. Please read their Bulletin.

Briefly:

  • On Saturday August 25, 2012 UBC wireless services at all UBC facilities may sporadically be unavailable from 10:00 to 16:00 PT due to infrastructure maintenance and upgrades. During this window, there will be periodic outages to the wireless network at the following locations.
  • All wireless networks at these facilities:
  • UBC Vancouver Main Campus
  • UBC Vancouver South Campus
  • UBC Robson Square – Downtown Campus
  • UBC Learning Exchange – Downtown Eastside UBC Dairy Research & Education Ctr – Agassiz
  • ubcprivate, ubcvisitor and eduroam ONLY at UBC Okanagan
  • ubcsecure ONLY at these facilities Vancouver Coastal Health managed facilities, St Paul’s Hospital, Children and Women’s Hospital.
  • CFRI at Children’s Hospital

**UPDATE: All went well last night. No reported problems. (knock on wood)**

Just a heads up that EZproxy (which many people use for off-campus access to Library resources) will be down at 6:00 pm today for an upgrade. Down-time expected to be brief. If you experience EZproxy problems after, say, 6:30 pm, please report them to our Help Form. Thanks!

This Saturday, February 18th., the CWL (Campus-Wide Login) server will be undergoing maintenance from 8:30 a.m to 4:00 p.m. and DOWN from 11:00 – 11:15 a.m.

EZproxy will be down from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on this Wednesday (January 25th.).

What does that mean?

  1. For off-campus access you will need to set up and use myVPN
  2. For resources that must use EZproxy (like ebrary, eBook Library and MyiLibrary), there will be no access till after 7:00 pm.

Just a heads up for folks working this weekend.

There will be work on the UBC Catalogue this weekend. Many ejournal records will be removed & later replaced. This may cause problems with people using the “Search for Print and Online Journals” left-hand search box, but will not affect the “Search for Online Journals Only” right-hand search box.

The Citation Linker will not be affected (for ejournals). Clear?

**UPDATE** Some people are not seeing the changes. Clear the Cache & Cookies from your Browser(s). This should correct the problem.

The ejournal Portal (our ejournal A-Z list) has changed.

Starting Friday, June 2nd, there will be an “Online Only” option. This will return hypertext links leading directly to ejournals.

To search for Print journals and ejournals (not to mention microforms of journals), use the “Print and Online” option. This will search our Catalogue and allow you to see which print issues we have. Records that say  [electronic resource] will also take you to ejournals via the orange “Online Access” button.

So, if looking for journals:

  1. go to the ejournal Portal
  2. select the option you want
  3. enter the journal title
  4. …and Search!

*UPDATE* – EZproxy update a success. All should be working better than before.

But what does that mean to you?

If you are trying to connect to a subscribed eresource from off campus, Proxy will not be an option for the 4 hours. Please use myVPN.

Books24x7_Logo_Final_clearBooks 24×7 will have connection issues till possibly Friday morning. The “old” login (for anyone familiar with the blue screen) will work if you have a pre-existing account. The new will not. See the Library Information Page for your login options. Only “Alternate online access: Click here for the electronic version.” links will work in the catalog during this time.

ebraryebrary will be unavailable from off campus unless you go through myVPN possibly till Friday morning. Personal bookshelves will be unavailable for the same period, whether on or off campus.

china_dataChina Data Online will be unavailable till Friday morning or possibly later.

GMIDGlobal Market Information Database (GMID) will be unavailable till possibly Friday morning.

Passwords that are hidden behind links that require your UBCcard Barcode and PIN will be unavailable for the 4 hours.
