April 18th, 2013 by Jessica Woolman | Comments Off on Woodward Library closed for service May 4
Woodward Library will be closed on Saturday May 4. The Library will resume normal hours on Sunday, May 5.
The closure is due to maintenance work from UBC Building Operations which includes a series of buildings on campus. Woodward Library, the Instructional Resources Centre, the Cunningham and Wesbrook buildings, and the School of Population and Public Health will all be affected by the electrical maintenance. A high voltage feeder being repaired requires a full electrical shutdown for the group of buildings. Building Operations expects the shutdown to last from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.
For information on the maintenance, affected departments and times, please visit the UBC Building Operations website.

September 6th, 2012 by Jessica Woolman | Comments Off on Great Reads expands to Woodward Library

UBC Library’s Great Reads program has expanded to include Woodward Library. The leisure-reading program, initially launched at Koerner Library last fall, also has a location at the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre.
The leisure reads include bestsellers, Canadian fiction, and “popular” reading material typically found in a public library. The Woodward location features materials related to the life sciences, with topics such as such as cholera epidemics, Charles Darwin, or new fiction such as Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.
Readers interested in fiction, bestsellers and humanities and social sciences reading can visit Koerner Library for more book selection. Materials related to art, architecture, science and engineering are located in the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre.
For a virtual bookshelf, Google book reviews, or to suggest new material, visit the Great Reads website.
