As you guys may have known, today was Room to Read UBC’s first fundraiser event of the year!
A big thank you to everyone who came out to the Ladha building from 10AM – 5PM and bought a plushie (or two) and some yummy bueno and lindt chocolate!
Our fundrasier event was a huge success thanks to all of you!
If you were not aware of our event today, or did not have enough change, didn’t have the time, or that your favourite plushie was already sold out.. No worries! We will be back tomorrow with a whole new stock of plushies.. especially the very popular penguins!
The new location of our booth will be in the SUB from 10AM – 5PM.
So make sure you get your plushie(s) as we have limited stock!
Other than the restocked penguin plushies, we will also have additional christmas themed mugs, restocked plushies, both mini and large stockings (which are so adorable), and chocolates!
So if you’re still in need of that gift for your secret santa, a friend, roommate, a special someone, or your christmas tree, come on down to the SUB and visit our booth before they sell out!

Room to Read UBC is HIRING!
*Who are we?* A charity group with a strong focus on the equal access to education. We believe that changing the world starts from educated children. Please visit the Room to Read website for more information on our causes: http://www.roomtoread.org/.
*What do we do?* Our largest campaign of the year, Live-in for Literacy, involves students camping out at the Irving K Barber Learning Centre to raise money and awareness for approximately a week. This Live-in for Literacy initiative occurs on 10 Canadian campuses nation-wide. We will also be hosting several other events and fundraisers throughout the year!
*Who are we looking for?* Enthusiastic, dedicated, and innovative individuals who are well connected on or off campus!
*What are the positions available?*
Events Coordinators (5) –> Help initiate and organize our events and fundraisers!
Sponsorship Coordinators (2) –> Help us gain support from local organizations!
Marketing Coordinator (1) –> Help us get the word out about our causes and initiatives!
*What can you expect?* The commitment is usually about 2-5 hours a week, with more hours required for fundraisers, especially during the Live-in for Literacy week in January. We ask that you attend all weekly meetings, and take initiative where possible. We always encourage creative ideas and we love cupcakes!
