Inquiry

I have been interested in using technology to create classroom based problem solving activities for teaching secondary mathematics. Here are some of the questions that I have been thinking about throughout the whole year:

  • How do visual aspects of digital technologies change the dynamics of learning in mathematics classrooms?
  • Can digital technologies be used to influence children’s problem solving success?
  • How can teachers incorporate digital technologies to help learners make connections between visual and symbolic representations of geometrical concepts and ideas?
  • How can digital technologies be used to visualize mathematical operations and patterns when posing and solving problems?

Here are some GeoGebra applets that I have created/used to inquire about mathematical objects. The following GeoGebra applets allow students to not only visualize mathematical objects, but also allow leaners to interact with the applet in order to pose probing questions.
