2 minutes of trotro

Just a little taste of Accra, and part of my commute home. I take a quick tro ride to Station, where I get another that goes straight to Haatso. Tros don’t depart until they’re full, so sometimes you sit there for a long time. Other times there can be a huge queue. Lots of people selling stuff here, from booths or just walking around.

You can see a bit of the inside in the video, this tro had a tv in it! We watched a movie on the way home (about an hour and half ride), which was subtitled in English when the actors spoke Twi, so I could follow along. It was Ghanaian made and quite funny, about a greedy banker and his exploits.

Me again Nicole, I just realized to my utter embarrassment that I was confusing Ghana (in West Africa) with Guyana (in South America)…oops….now I will have to learn more (I wondered when you referred to your travel route including London…however the part about Rita Marley’s home still leaves me a bit baffled….so she now lives in Ghana?
And what was with that enormous Tortoise on the back of the truck…was that for real????

    • Yes, Rita moved here and does a lot of charity work here in Africa, especially Ghana. She is held in very high regard, as you can imagine!

I didn’t see an enormous tortoise!? Where did you see that?

      • on your tortoise video…showing the two eating …then view the hungry tortoise chewing on the shoe, then the 185 year old tortoise and the girl..then it goes to the 500 year old tortoise on the back of a truck…as big as a Volkswagan…

        • Ah, I see what you’re talking about. Other YouTube videos… I can’t watch any from here, my internet connection is too slow!

It looks like it came out of Jurassic Park or something….
From the looks of the place it seems amazing to me that there are even computers there.

Looks very a very charming but simple life to me.
