Novak

Your approach isn't a bad one, but as far as I'm concerned the WP Thread Comment plugin you mention doesn't really deliver threading in a user-friendly or useful manner. By the time a thread is deeply nested the quotes of quotes of yet more quotes have entirely obscured the thread itself; it becomes impossible to follow.

For a thread to be usable and trackable to users requires an extension of your "grid" approach, using a scrollable split-screen view - with "your" list of threads in the upper display and the body content in a lower scrollable screen, the upper screen thread display should then be expandable/collapsable at any node on the tree.

With a suitable next/last and begining/end [of thread] plugin and a quote plugin users can then view and respond to the thread root or to any other reply in the thread with great facility.

If you're interested, mail me off list: I can show you screen shots of a fully threaded mail/news reader which I helped to design and implement in the early 90s which does exactly this.

Hi Novak - just wondering about the status of your plugin. I did a quick search (wasn't totally sure what to search for) in the Wordpress plugin directory and didn't find anything.

Thanks D'Arcy,
Thanks for sending links to WP-Stats - we are looking into what to use, and this seems like a really good fit.
Your blogs' system is just fantastic, great model for us!

Sounds great, Novak! I'd love to play with the plugin, and help work on it if needed.

We're using the WP-Stats plugin to do something similar, but it's certainly not as fully developed as this idea.
