Teresa Dobson and Stan Ruecker attended the Interedition conference in the Hague, Netherlands (19-20 March 2012), to deliver a paper on behalf of the team: “Neither Bicycles nor Sheep: Crowdsourcing Semantic Encoding for Elements of Plot” (authors: Teresa M. Dobson, Stan Ruecker, Dustin Grue, Monica Brown).
Today Teresa Dobson, Stan Ruecker, and Piotr Michura visited the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, to give a talk about the PlotVis project: “‘Open the Door and Walk In’: Extending Approaches to Modeling Narrative Texts.” Our host here is Jan Rybicki, who is well known for his work in stylometrics.

Project Leader, Teresa Dobson, visited the Institute of Design, Illinois Institute of Technology, 16-20 October 2011, where she presented on the theory and design of PlotVis and met with potential collaborators.
Members of the PlotVis team presented the project at Digital Humanities 2011 (DH 2011), Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA, 19-21 June 2011. For her paper in the PlotVis panel, Monica Brown, PhD Candidate in the UBC Department of English, won the Young Scholar Bursary Award.

Omar Rodriguez completed the first version of PlotVis based on sketches by Piotr Michura of a Fibonacci sequence model. Shown below is a screen shot of the first iteration of PlotVis, built using the Unity game engine.
