Community Field Experience Meeting 

Before the end of February, CFE Faculty advisors will contact teacher candidates to arrange a meeting for Thursday, March 19th (between 2 and 3pm).  Advisors will review general expectations and the blog assignment.

Seminar #1 – Practicum Orientation

Hello elementary and middle years teacher candidates!  On Tuesday, September 2nd, your day begins in Scarfe 100.  As the Practicum Coordinator, it is my privilege to provide you with an orientation to practia. The presentation is scheduled from 8:45am to 10:15am.

Seminar #2a – Community Field Experience Orientation 

The Community Field Experience (CFE – EDUC 430) provides teacher candidates with an opportunity to spend 3-weeks in an alternate educational setting.  This seminar will provide an overview of local, rural and international placement options for the spring of 2015.  You will also have an opportunity to meet a few CFE partners!

Dr. Keith McPherson will be hosting a presentation to review international CFE options for 2015.

On Thursday, September 18th we are pleased to welcome representatives from five rural schools districts to discuss their CFE partnership with UBC.  Superintendents and/or district representatives will be available to answer questions before and after the presentation outside Scarfe 100.

Seminar #3 – Teaching in Public and Independent Schools

On Thursday, September 18th we are blessed to have Elizabeth Moore (ISABC Executive Director) and Michael Kee (District Principal – Human Resources, North Vancouver School District) to present an overview of teaching in the independent and public school systems.

Seminar #4 – The CFE Learning Cycle & Truths, Misconceptions and Myths about the Hiring Process

To help prepare you for the 3-week Community Field Experience, Dr. Vanessa Andreotti will review the learning cycle of local, rural and international experiences.

VSB Retention and Manager,  Cheryl Douglas and District Principal, Adrian Keough will discuss how to apply for teaching positions in the province.  Make a Future, resumes, final reports, Teaching on Call are some of the topics covered in this seminar.
