Some of our course blogs allow students to blog in their own environment. We then use RSS feeds to bring their content into a main course blog that allows all students to see what their classmates are writing. In order to do this we use a WordPress plugin called FeedWordPress. FeedWordPress takes RSS feeds and republishes the content into another blog. In order to make setting a course blog up easier, we developed a way for students to add feeds to the blog themselves.
The Add Links Widget allows students to add an RSS feed to a blog. Once the feed is added it becomes a WordPress Link under the category “Contributers”. If FeedWordPress has the category Contributers as it’s default link category then the link will also be added to the FeedWordPress list of links (the feed still needs to be validated but that is a two click procedure).
