災害後の相互支援ミーティング Japanese Emergency Support Team Meetings

Please see the following notice from the Japanese Emergency Support Team (JEST) regarding additional meetings for those in the UBC community that have been affected by the disaster in Japan.

Informal group sessions are available to anyone wishing to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences related to the recent earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan. Meetings will be held in Japanese every Wednesday on UBC campus, facilitated by professionally trained Japanese-speaking bilingual counsellors who are volunteering their time and expertise. Students, faculty, staff, and their friends are welcome to attend these small group sessions on a drop-in basis.

• Every Wednesday (5pm – 6.30pm)
• Dates: March 30, April 6, April 13, April 20, and April 27, 2011
• Room 304A in Scarfe Building (3rd floor, Scarfe Faculty of Education Building), 2125 Main Mall (west of University Bookstore), 10-min. walk from UBC Bus Terminal
• Free, open to all, drop-in basis
• Language: Japanese

災害後の相互支援ミーティング(日本語)の開催のお知らせ

このたびの東北関東大震災で、ご家族、ご友人をお亡くしになられた方々へ心より御悔み申し上げます。

この地震と津波の大災害で、海外在住の方々は多大なるショックと不安を覚えておられることと思います。このような状況に際しまして、大学院レベルで臨床カウンセリングの専門教育を受けた有志がボランティアグループとしてJapanese Emergency Support Team (JEST) – UBCを立ち上げました。こちらにおられる日本人の留学生や教職員やお知り合いの方々に話し合いと相互支援のための集談会の場を提供することを目的としております。3月23日に行われた第1回目に引き続き、毎週水曜日午後5時から6時半まで下記の場所にて集談会を開催いたします。開始時間に遅れて来た人も参加できます。

• 日時:毎週水曜日 5.00pm-6.30pm(3月30日、4月6日、4月13日、4月20日、4月27日)

さらにまた、悲しみ、不安、無力感、ストレス、学業・業務への集中力低下、家族の方の抱えるストレス、などの悩みや心配事について話し合ったり相談をする機会を希望する方の要望にこたえて、上記の集談会のほかに、必要に応じてサポートグループや短期の個人相談も無料にて行います。

災害後ミーティング Support Group Meetings for Japanese Students Affected by Recent Disaster in Japan

The first support meeting of UBC’s Japanese Emergency Support Team (JEST) will be held on March 23. Please see below for details. Future meetings will be posted under “Discussions” in the Earthquake & Tsunami Resources page.

An informal and supportive meeting will be held in Japanese and facilitated by Japanese-speaking professional counsellors and counsellors-in-training at UBC who are volunteering their time and expertise. There will be a short information session followed by a group discussion.

Wed., March 23, 2011 (5pm – 7pm)
Room 310 in Scarfe Building (3rd floor, Education Building, 2125 Main Mall)
Cost: Free
Open to all (max. 24 participants)

Bruce White, Anthropologist from Doshisha University in Japan joins UBC and Vancouver based panel of Millie Creighton, Kozue Matsumoto, Dada Docot, Larissa Dziubenko, and Greg Masuda to discuss Japan’s earthquake, tsunami and radiation disaster and researching on a fault line.
