Presentations from the 2005 VRD Conference

In response to a proposal from the Reference & Instruction Committee, the eLibrary/RIC subcommittee is implementing a new field in the Database Information Resources pages. The new field will include information about RefWorks. You can see a template of the new page here: http://toby.library.ubc.ca/resources/infopagetemp.cfm?id=196 Please post comments to the blog if you have any questions or concerns about the wording or placement of this new field.There are some problems with certain vendors (Ovid/Silver Platter, Proquest/Chadwyck Healey, etc.) but we are working on a solution for these cases.

Senate November : Some important funding for libraries, if the legislation passes, will come from the post secondary “Innovation Fund” (targeted at libraries, learning environments and persons with disabilities) and an increase in indirect costs of research funding.
Senate December: MF noted Senate unaware of UBC Library Instructional programs.
Urge librarians to join non-library centered groups on campus that deal with teaching & learning 4-5 of these in TAG program.

How about a RIC hosted session on What’s new in the Library
to cover library searching, new tools, equipment, etc.
Staff Traing & Developemnt Librarian to arrange.
