Workshop Series

A series of workshops for
1)graduate students
2)everyone
has been coordinated by the Chapman Learning Commons
for a number of years.

RIC is prepared to coordinate the workshops this year.
Lee Ann Bryant will be assuming this role in July.

It is expected that the workshops will be similar to those offered last
year with a focus on library research. We hope to have in place by fall
a new registration system to save labour.

Ideas for workshops are most welcome!

Last year the workshops were sponsored by:
UBC Library, UBC Writing Centre, Arts ISIT,
the Office of Learning Technology, Student Development and Services and
TAG

Topics included:

Management: Discover Strategies for Using Your Time More Effectively
Thesis Writing Tips and Strategies
Humanities & Social Sciences Research
Writing a Literature Review
Research Skills for the Sciences
Resume Clinic
Current Awareness Tools
Writing a CV (Academic Resume)
Introduction to Endnote
Facilitating Productive Groups
Advanced Endnote
Introduction to Weblogs
Through the Looking Glass . e-Portfolios for Reflection
Wired (and wireless) for sound: personal audio and education

Did you offer a workshop last year?
Would you be willing to offer it again?

Please email Lee Ann, lee.ann.bryant@ubc.ca

The series of workshops for Grad Students has been running out of the Chapman Learning Commons since Sept 2003. (Thanks Trish!) I’ll be co-ordinating the series for next term and would like to know of any ideas/inspiration you have for workshops for this group of students.

Please feel free to suggest workshops that are outside your particular area of expertise: proposing doesn’t imply that you’re volunteering to deliver the workshop yourself.

Please also solicit ideas from librarians in your area.

You can reply on the blog, or to me directly (sheryl.adam@ubc.ca)

Thanks!
Sheryl
