Assignment 2: Video Mashup

Dolce & Gabbana Video Mashup

For this Assignment, I combined a number of video clips mainly from Youtube to hint to some of the social movements throughout the twentieth and twenty-first century, and their role in building our society. Strong women such as Margaret Thatcher and Zaha Hadid changed the conventional perspective on gender norms in different ways, but I would like to argue they are each a product of the social movements before or around their own time. The way I intended to show this statement in my video was to portray Sofia Loren as Margaret Thatcher, Zaha Hadid, or any other strong woman throughout the history. The young boys and girls symbolize some of the social movements of the past and present. Near the end of this mashup, the young girl passes a rose to Sophia Loren which, I hope, captures the sense of the passing of knowledge and experience to the great leaders. It is true that Sophia Loren was in charge of the change of the structure of the architecture ( or society in the broader perspective), but she used the experience of other young people to achieve this goal.
