No more paper bits…

Go electronic with e-mail reminders!

This product is a simple concept and makes you think, “Why didn’t I think of that?” Busy people need help – to organize and to be reminded when to do what where and with whom. Post-its scattered around the house and scribbles in the margins of class notes serve as the reminder method of choice – I’m looking at you, UBC student! The problem with notes to yourself is that you have to remember to look at them, right? No doubt you’re already checking your email a zillion times a day. With a Resnooze message, email is actually going to tell you something you need to know when you need to know it, and from a trusted source – you!

What exactly is ?

It’s an email reminder program. That’s it. After establishing an account (here’s the privacy policy), you tell it when to email you about what and at what frequency. Just want a one-time message? Set it up for the default weekly, then when you receive the message, click the convenient “delete” button in the body. Or customize the frequency for more regular reminders.

Some ideas:

  • A weekly reminder to start your term paper early, then click “daily” to get the same message every day until you actually get underway.
  • A weekly reminder to call your parents.
  • A daily reminder to get some exercise.
  • And of course, any special appointments or meetings you can’t forget!

Resnooze also a list of “Hot Reminders” – no account required – to put a bug in your inbox about the stuff we all can’t forget, like paying rent, defragging your hard drive or changing the cat’s litter. (Unless you live by the rule, if you can’t smell it, it ain’t there…)

And here’s a tip to get those really important reminders right to your nerve centre – send the messages to your phone. If you don’t have it already, just go online with your cell phone provider, find out your phone’s email address (every phone with text capabilities has one) and use it to set up an account for the super-crucial stuff.

  1. Go to http://www.resnooze.com/.
  2. Take a few minutes to check out the TUTORIAL or watch a screencast. Easy, huh?
  3. Look through the Hot Reminders – anything you’ve forgotten to do recently?
  4. OK, now it’s time to get real. What do you need to remember to do this month? This week? Tomorrow?
  5. Think of three things you can’t forget to do.
  6. Sign up for an account.
  7. Set up 3 reminder messages. Remember, you can always delete the schedule when you get your email reminder.
  8. What reminders did you set? Post your choices to the BB.
