Canaccord Learning Commons Presents Bloomberg Session at Sauder

Next Wednesday, March 9, Bloomberg representative Leila Valanejad is visiting Sauder School from Bloomberg’s San Francisco office.

 Bloomberg is a financial service that provides quotes and analysis of securities, company and industry financial data, market news, stock exchange data, and economic data. It is used heavily in the finance world, but also throughout many other facets of business and industry. Bloomberg combines innovative technology with analytic, data, news, display and distribution capabilities, to deliver critical information via the Bloomberg Professional service and multimedia platforms. Bloomberg’s media properties span television, radio, digital, and print making up one of the world’s largest news organizations with more than 2,300 news and multimedia professionals at 146 bureaus in 72 countries.

 Being Bloomberg-literate enriches the skills and resumes of business graduates. The Sauder Bloomberg terminal is currently located in Room CLC 222.

 The session will provide an update about new developments in the Bloomberg service, as well as an introduction to those interested in learning to use Bloomberg.

UBC MBA-CMA Program Announcement

The CMA recently announced changes to the CMA Program requirements for UBC MBA students. The CMA document outlining the new requirements is posted on your Vista Site in the CMA Folder under Post-Core Modules. The CMA group has yet to update their website
(http://www.cmabc.com/index.cfm/ci_id/10054/la_id/1.htm) to reflect these changes. If you have any questions about the changes, please contact the listed CMA representative at the bottom of the new CMA document.

IMPORTANT: MBA & ECM Programs Office Staffing Announcement

Dharm Bains, Manager of Academic Services, is now on a 1-year maternity leave. We anticipate that Dharm will return to her role in March 2012.

We are pleased to announce that we have hired Theresa Scott as Acting Manager, Academic Services to cover Dharm’s role. Theresa Scott has done some initial training in our office and will be taking over the role on March 23, 2011. Once Theresa has joined us on March 23rd, we will send a further introduction and advise of her role/responsibilities.  

The position of Manager, Academic Services, will be vacant between now and March 23rd. As such, we would like to clarify key roles and contacts in the MBA & ECM Programs Office. Please note the below so that we can best assist you.

New MBA House Residence Manager

We are pleased to welcome Jebbin Matthew as the new MBA House Residence Manager, effective 01 February 2011.  Jebbin is attending the Full-Time MBA program and is also the Humanitarian Council President for the MBA Society.

 We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Dallas Henault for his hard work throughout his year in the position of MBA House Residence Manager and wish him the best in his post-MBA career.
