You are invited to attend the 2012 24hr Haskayne Case Competition in Calgary on Thursday March 08, 2012.

The University of Calgary strives to make this a unique event that gives students an opportunity to engage with real executives facing real problems in real time. The past two events have been a huge success – students indeed worked through the night to find the best solution to a significant and complex problem.

 This year is leverage year, and the organizing team has put together a spectacular event that will be the highlight of the year for competing teams – so don’t miss out!

 Only 2 teams from each school will be allowed to participate so please inform your class president if you think you have a team lined up. The MBA & ECM Programs Office will then assist in the team selection process if there are more than 2 teams interested in participating.

The 2011 National Investment Banking Competition and Conference is calling all MBA and ECM team registrations – NOW!

Due to very short notice, the deadline to register teams has been extended from today (October 21st) until next Tuesday, October 25th.

The National Investment Banking Competition offers an unprecedented experience to students looking for ways to showcase and develop their skills in investment banking. Through the competition process, students have to value a company by using models prepared by professionals from the top Canadian investment banks, prepare a management presentation, and structure a simulated M&A transaction.

Finalists will have the unique opportunity to present to a panel of managing directors at the conference in January, where the winning graduate and undergraduate teams will receive $5,000.

The third annual University of North Dakota (UND) business plan competition is held on the UND campus in Grand Forks on April 13-14, 2012. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams at the Award Ceremony.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS & SET YOUR ALARMS!

Registration for the 2^nd Annual Vancouver for Acumen Fund Case Challenge opens on October 12^th, 2011 at 10:00am. Check the website for details and for the registration link.  The competition is open to students in undergraduate and post-graduate studies, in teams of three.

WHAT’S NEW THIS YEAR:

After listening to your feedback last year, we’ve added 2 more workshops!

• Workshop 1: strategies for case analysis (tentative date November 5^th)
• Workshop 2: implementation and presentation (tentative date November 26^th)
• Workshop 3: financial modeling (tentative date January 28^th)
• Workshop 4: investing for impact and business strategy in developing economies (tentative date February 18^th)

The competition will be structured as a 24-hour take home (‘open’) case with final presentations made to a panel of judges made up of industry leaders in finance and social enterprise. Tentative date is March 10^th, 2012.

*Dates will be confirmed for registration on October 12^th 2011

The 31st annual John Molsen MBA International Case Competition will be held from January 3rd to 8th, 2012 at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
